More for Parents
Infants and children are always welcome at any service. Most of us enjoy the “happy kid” sounds that occasionally punctuate the service.
All of our staff, elected vestry (church board) members, and volunteer small group leaders are certified in "Safeguarding God's Children and Safeguarding God's People" and hold state clearances. We take the safety, growth and respect of all God's people VERY seriously. We also believe children are best raised in Christian community, so we work to welcome them into the church of today, not the church of the future.
If your child becomes upset and you feel (s)he is disturbing others, you can take him or her to the parish hall for a bit (there’s a speaker out there so you can continue to hear the service), or out in the gardens, until (s)he feels better. Please don’t be embarrassed. Many of us are parents and grandparents and we understand.
DON'T GIVE UP, EITHER! After several weeks of the same thing each Sunday, your child may ‘get with the program’ and come to enjoy listening to the service while (s)he plays somewhat quietly in the pew. We find children have a better understanding of the sermon than many adults... whether they're coloring or squirming. God has a special place for the little ones!
