Shepherd's Green Community Food Pantry

The Shepherd's Green Community Food Pantry is a faith and community-based ministry that calls St. John's home. The ministry is as much about Christian presence and human touch as it is about meeting physical needs. On the fourth Saturday of every month, volunteers from the congregation and other local volunteers gather together to unpack, set up, and distribute groceries and personal care items to members of the community who do not have enough. This ministry would not be possible without the great support from Second Harvest Food Bank in Erie and many other local churches and organizations.

Thank you for your support!

The Fourth Saturday of the Month

On the Fourth Saturday of the Month, every month, the Shepherd's Green Community Food Pantry opens its doors to the community with offerings of free groceries and personal care items. People who would like to be clients simply need to show up on the fourth Saturday with the following items:

  • valid ID
  • proof of Franklin area residency
  • proof of income

We serve everyone from low income families, single parents, senior citizens, unemployed individuals, disabled veterans, working poor, and anyone else that comes to the pantry in need. We serve everyone regardless of their race, color, or religion. The amount of food given depends on household size.

Volunteers

All volunteers are welcome. Most of our volunteers work at setting up food for distribution, moving crates and boxes of food into storage, or handing out food during distribution. We are always looking for volunteers to help carry bags, as many of the clients cannot carry all the groceries up and down stairs themselves. If you are interested in volunteering, please let April in the office know.
